Here is my choice project. Although it may look small in the picture, It is a large bowl suitable for a large salad or even a family size soup dinner. It is thrown with sea mix and topped with a green and white glaze. It was coated with white then sponged with sea green mix. It is my favorite project from this semester!
Here is my hand and wheel project. Although it may not be very evident, I made a tall vase then cut off the top of it to make it hand and wheel. I was never good at making projects that required both hand work and wheel work so I decided to go with a different approach and throw a tall cylinder and cut of the top to incorporate the hand work. It is glazed both black and green and I am really pleased with the color that turned out.
Theme inspired project. This is my theme inspired project which portrays both contrast and patters. The movement(pattern) of the flowers demonstrates contrast within the shape and size of the cylinder. It is made with sea mix then topped with black glaze and clear topping that. The flowers took some time however I think the glaze job turned out exceptionally well.
Lidded Project. This is my lidded project. Doing lidded projects is definitely not my specialty, as you can tell. I have issues making the lid fit perfectly onto the top of my vases. Although the form of the lid is not perfect, I really enjoy the vase and the textured looking glaze on it. Its glazed with white, then sponged with blue and topped with clear.
Franken Pot. This is Megan, Kate and I's franken pot. It has three layers and i made the bottom, Megan made the middle and Kate did the top. I constructed them all together with the help of Megan and Kate. The form of it is extremely nice and I love the shape! We will for sure win the competition ;). I glazed it white then managed to put flowers over the white however I forgot that white is notorious for running so the flowers are not so "flowery" anymore.
Multi-Wheel project. Although it is not perfect I actually really enjoy this project! I only used two layers and blended them well. However, I footed the bottom before i attached the second layer which was a problem for when I actually needed to attach them together. I glazed it in random colors by splatter painting them and then I topped it with a clear glaze.
Wheel altered... This project was actually super fun to make. I like doing these because the project does not have to be perfectly pulled up or the edges don't need to be perfect since its a wheel altered. I used red clay and then pulled the edges out, following that I curved the edges. I glazed it cobalt blue however I don't like the glaze job. It got put on too thin so you can see the red clay through the glaze.
Choice Project... For my choice project I decided to make two of my favorite things to make in Ceramics, plates. These are both red clay based with a Green and Blue glaze Job. I decided to glaze them different than what I usually do. The first plate turned out well however the second plate did not turn out how I planned. Both the lines and shape compliment each other.
Set of three! These are my favorite project so far because they are all done to perfection. They are all three wheel altered and are thrown into different sizes of bowls. They are glazed with green, blue and white mixed together and are all footed the same. The different sizes sets them apart however they share the same concept in which they are squiggled at the top and glazed the same. If I could go back and redo this project I would not change anything about them!
My two plates! Although they are not perfect, I am satisfied with the work and detail on both. The first plate is a marble mix between porcelain and red clay. The second plate is thrown strictly with just red clay. The first plate was thrown too thin so it cracked while in the bisque kiln. I need to improve on making the plates thicker and giving them a better footing job. They have good shape and form, also the glazes suited each plate properly.
Here is my "not so tall" tall project. It is far from perfect but considering I made this first try after not being on the wheel since freshman year is pleasing. It has good shape and form however the length of it needs to increase.
